Guangzhou City Polytechnic Institute

This project is to upgrade and renovate the smart campus network of Guangzhou City Polytechnic College (formerly Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology). The project is located in Huadu District, Guangzhou. The school has a building area of nearly 520,000 square meters, 6,950 student dormitories, and a total of more than 23,300 teachers and students, including nearly 22,000 students and more than 1,300 faculty and staff.



I. Existing Problems


(1) Insufficient transmission backbone network resources, aging equipment and lines.


(2) Irrational line planning and messy wiring increase the difficulty and cost of operation and maintenance management.


(3) The operation and maintenance management process with account opening, authentication, and fault reporting is complex and the response efficiency is low.


II. Solution: All-optical campus network


1. Use a large two-layer all-optical network architecture of OLT+ONU to form a network, with unified access management for the entire network, independent fiber to the dormitory, integrated ONU to achieve wired and wireless integrated access, fiber to the office area, and access to the original office area network.



2. Develop and connect the campus network business system, payment platform, and operation and maintenance system to achieve efficient operation and maintenance.


III. Construction Results


1. The campus-wide line replanning strengthened transmission capacity, significantly increasing service carrying capacity and achieving the goal of "simple architecture, fast transmission, and large capacity."



2. The dual-mode "on-site operation and maintenance + online self-service" model improved operation and maintenance management efficiency, significantly reducing service provisioning time.


3. The intelligent visualization and multi-service compatible management backend reduced the failure rate, significantly reduced maintenance workload, and shortened troubleshooting time by 50%.
