Guangdong Engineering Vocational and Technical College
This project is located at the Tianhe Campus (main campus) of Guangdong Engineering Vocational and Technical College, which has approximately 10,000 full-time students and over 600 faculty and staff. The goal of this upgrade and renovation is to create a "smart campus" with integrated, unified connectivity, comprehensive, refined services, and secure, convenient management and control, serving students and faculty in their learning, teaching, and entertainment lives.
I. Current Network Status
♦ The original network cabling was complex, impacted by electromagnetic interference and transmission distance, resulting in a poor service experience.
♦ Aging lines: The original network used aging twisted-pair lines, leading to widespread unauthorized wiring and connection.
♦ Difficulty in operation: The coexistence of multiple mobile and telecom networks resulted in a complex architecture and low operational efficiency.
♦ IPv6 network transition issues: Network equipment must support dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 transition capabilities.
II. Customer Requirements
♦ High-speed connectivity
Integrated wired and wireless connectivity for high-speed internet access, data interoperability, and social campus applications.
♦ Convenient Management
Improve campus operational efficiency, achieving low TCO, self-service management, and unified management of multi-network integration.
♦ Secure Campus
Multi-dimensional access authentication, network behavior tracing, network application monitoring, and network attack prevention.
III. Application Solution
♦ Utilizes a large, Layer 2, all-optical network architecture consisting of OLTs and ONUs, with independent fiber optic cables extending to dormitories and integrated ONUs for wired and wireless access. This creates an IPv4 & IPv6 dual-stack platform with unified network management and operations.
♦ Enables smart campus management, including online bill payment, online security acceptance, and visual management.
IV. Construction Results
♦ 10G backbone, 1G to the desktop, for a high-speed, stable network experience.
♦ Reduces failure rate by 80% and reduces operations and maintenance workload by 40%.
♦ Multi-service convergence and unified transport for flexible expansion.
